Frozen tissue collections have become central to modern biodiversity collections because of their tremendous value for molecular systematics and genome and transcriptome sequencing. Our Research Collections hold a substantial tissue collection frozen in -80°C freezers. These are usually preserved in 100% molecular-grade ethanol or RNAlater. This tissue collection is being used in molecular systematic, evolutionary, ecological and conservation genetic studies. It forms a core part of the research programme of Biodiversity Lab, including that of students and research associates.
